Let’s talk about a totally un-sexy subject, but one that made all the difference for me from day one.
A bit of background, currently, I’m 47 soon to be 48 going through peri-menopause. Even though I’m an energy practitioner with years of experience, know all about self-healing, self-care, energy work, meditation…blah…blah…blah….
Over the last couple of years it’s been extremely difficult to manage my weight. Let’s face it, our bodies change over time and menopause for women can be one of the worst times when it comes to managing weight and mood.
I remember when I’d be sitting on the couch talking to my mom, then from literally outa no where, her whole mood dramatically shifted to that of anxiety. I could tell something had been “triggered” and for a while I didn’t really get it.
It didn’t take long before I started associating her change in mood with the beads of sweat dripping down her face followed by the heavy breathing, almost like she was trying to put out the fire her body was building in her gut through labored breathing. The hotter the fire the heavier and more labored the breathing.
I knew what came next. “It’s so hot in here, you’ve got to turn up the air conditioner.” The panic, anxiety and sweat would last about 10-15 minutes. Then, as if someone flipped a switch, all would be well.
My mom tried to warn me of how horrible hot-flashes were. But I would have never imagined how bad, until I began to experience them myself.
My journey through how I’m managing menopause through holistic methods is a another story. For now, I’d like to share with you a different kinda story but still related. The un-sexy way I’ve found to detox. Prepare yourself, because I’m talking about the dreaded E word.
Yep, the Enema…. told you it wasn’t sexy.
I first read about the benefits of doing regular home enemas something like 10 years ago. But like most, I was totally resistant until now. Boy, talk about a late adopter 🙂
If I’m being totally honest, part of it was just pure laziness. It just sounded like a lot of work when I could have just as easily taken a detox pill. Which is what I typically did when doing a body detox. I’d rely on holistic liver, colon, kidney, etc. cleanses via pill form.
Lots of reasons contributed to my leap of faith but I would say the most significant is directly connected to my hot-flashes and weight management. I started feeling bloated and toxic and the typically remedies from years past just simply were not working. Even with a healthy diet, my body just stopped responding. Like a 2-year-old temper tantrum, my body was going kicking and screaming down every path I chose.
I decided to get serious and go deeper into what was causing my body to rebel. After all, we’d been pretty good allies up until this point. When I treated it right, it would reward me. I’d feel better, have more energy, sleep better and my mood was pretty stable.
When I treated it badly… look out… because karma was going to pay me a visit 😉
During my research of body detox options, I rediscovered enemas. My personal presumption was that my body was not able to absorb the nutrients I was putting in, due to dirty plumbing and years of never going in with a scrubber to clear out the crap (literally).
All these years, I had been going about a detox backwards. Trying to detox from the wrong end. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure a lot of what I was doing helped. But I’m also sure that a lot of what I was doing was making matters worse.
By detoxing one way, I was compounding the toxins.
It all made sense… finally!
I was ready to approach my detox from a new angle. What did I have to loose after all, I’d tried everything else.
Thinking I could easily find a basic enema kit locally, you know the red plastic one that comes to mind whenever someone mentions the word. After making several calls, it became apparent, this was not at item typically sold in stores anymore. I had to settle for a one time use plastic bottle pre-mixed option found in most drugstores.
It worked okay but I knew nothing would be better for my body than plain water. Next thing you know, I’m searching through Amazon looking for just the right kit. Not even sure if there was such a thing.
Totally convinced the traditional red bag was exactly what I needed until….
I stumbled across a product that excited me about as much as the thought of sticking a water hose up my butt could excite a person. #I was elated 🙂
Thanks to Amazon Prime, the product arrived promptly and although I did have some reservations, I was also ready to try something new to get my body back into some sort of balance.
We’ll skip the tutorial, if needed, just do what I did and do a quick search on google or youtube.
Fast forward 3 days later….My results were nothing short of AMAZing. I ended up doing two enemas the first day, two the second day and one on day 3 (no you don’t need to do this many, I was feeling so toxic and out of balance, I did what felt right for me). I felt like years of neglected cleaning had finally been accomplished. My bloat was gone, I felt great and most importantly didn’t feel toxic anymore. The 3 lb. weight loss after being stalled for months… hello bonus!
I had become a food hoarder and didn’t even realize it, collecting who knows what over the years, and never stopping to do a proper cleans and purge.
If you’ve ever seen the popular TLC show (Hoarders), you’ve no doubt stayed to see the pay off. When all the toxic crap gets removed and what’s left is a livable environment.
That’s exactly the way my body feels. I have cleared out the toxins and made room for a livable environment. One I can manage and maintain on a regular basis.
I love the way I feel so much, that I plan on scheduling in a weekly enema. That’s right… just like scheduling the day I water my house plants, I’ll be adding a weekly enema to my calendar. Maybe I’ll use the acronym WE to keep it a bit more discrete 🙂
If you’re interested in the kit that I absolutely love, recommend and use myself. A kit that makes self enemas super easy and ensures it’s the most beneficial and safe for your body because its made from stainless steel, you can check it out here.Non-Toxic Stainless Steel Enema Bucket
If you have any questions, I’d be more than happy to answer. You only have one body, learn from someone who was on the fence for years – just do it! Your body with thank you.

PS. if your into the woo woo like me, you can set your intention, then after filling up the bucket with water, run energy through it. Talk about major benefits. Your working with the physical and the energetic parts of your body…b/c we all know we have both 🙂
PSS. if you’re not sure how to run energy, just set your intention.
If you’re mind and body’s not right nothing else will be. You need to be focused on creating a thriving environment.
